We need you to act now to prevent a nuclear bailout in Connecticut. The public has just two more days to comment on a crucial state agency report that outrageously says Connecticut ratepayers should subsidize the Millstone 2 and 3 reactors, even though they are still profitable.
Act now to stop the multi-billion dollar bailout for Connecticut reactors!
Dominion Energy, owner of the Millstone nuclear power station near Waterford, is pushing for Connecticut ratepayers to pay billions of dollars to subsidize the reactors for years to come. We’ve managed to hold off the bailout for almost three years now, but Dominion returns after each defeat with craftier ideas.
After a recent audit proved Dominion had no financial basis for their proposed bailout—the Millstone reactors are estimated to be profitable through 2035—a new state report has been released claiming Millstone is an important “clean” energy source and should be given subsidies so they can compete with the cheaper prices of solar and wind.
With the thousands of tons of hazardous radioactive waste nuclear energy produces, it is mind-boggling that anyone would consider it a “clean” source of energy, and that it would be subsidized to compete with actual clean energy sources like solar and wind.
We must act now and let the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection know—We won’t allow Millstone’s dirty energy to undercut Connecticut’s clean energy future!
Together, we can stop the Millstone bailout once and for all.
