The Georgia Public Service Commission has dramatically accelerated its decision on whether to cancel the Vogtle 3 and 4 nuclear reactors.
They now plan to issue a decision THIS Thursday.
Tell the PSC to Stop Vogtle Now.
Two weeks ago, the PSC’s staff finally recommended just that: cancel Vogtle or force Georgia Power to eat $4 billion of the cost. This is the first time the commission’s staff has openly admitted the reactors are a bust.
Georgia Power’s nuclear boondoggle is years behind schedule and billions of dollars over budget — now totaling over $25 billion, just like an identical reactor project in South Carolina that was canceled in July. But the PSC has the chance to save billions of dollars by canceling Vogtle and putting the funding to real, sustainable energy solutions, like renewables and energy efficiency.
I know you know how outrageous this project is, and has been from the day the utilities proposed it. Now we have a chance to stop it, once and for all.
Don’t let Vogtle bankrupt Georgia – tell the PSC to pull the plug on these nukes now!
Thanks for all you do!
