There is no longer any doubt that a nuclear-free, carbon-free energy system is technologically–and even economically–achievable. All that now stands in the way of a safe, clean and affordable energy future is political will to make the policies necessary to build that system.
Utility-size solar power is already growing rapidly in North Carolina; it’s time to change state law so that rooftop solar for businesses and homes will grow at least as fast and hopefully even faster.
After all, who wants to send money to Duke Energy and the like when it’s cheaper to generate your own electricity?
House bill 245, introduced by Republican representative John Szoka–a self-described former solar opponent–would allow no-money-down solar power in North Carolina. Everywhere else such laws to allow third party ownership of solar have been enacted, rooftop solar installations have skyrocketed. The same will be true in North Carolina if this bill is enacted.

Duke Energy may not like HB 245, but polls show overwhelming public support for the concept. Act below to make sure your legislators see that support.
