2019 Coalition Letter to Congress: End Yucca, Stop CIS!

On March 11, 2019, NIRS and eighty other organizations delivered letters to every member of Congress, calling on the federal government to end to the failed Yucca Mountain project and proposals for consolidated interim storage (CIS). As long as the federal government focuses only on Yucca Mountain and/or CIS, the nuclear waste problem will only get worse.

We need real solutions to address our nation’s radioactive waste problems and to substantially improve nuclear waste containment, safety, and security. Each letter included backgrounders explaining the problems with Yucca Mountain and CIS.
